Microsoft is gearing up to revolutionize its upcoming Surface PC lineup with enhanced AI capabilities. Referred to as CADMUS, these innovative machines are anticipated to integrate a next-generation neural processing unit (NPU) and will be available in both Intel and ARM variants.

According to information from sources disclosed by Windows Central's experienced tech journalist, Zac Bowden, the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 are set to be equipped with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon X chips. Simultaneously, the Intel-powered variants will harness the capabilities of the company's 14th Gen processors.
The introduction of new NPU chips aims to empower these upcoming PCs to seamlessly run AI features integrated into the next major Windows version currently in development by Microsoft. It is anticipated that this hardware upgrade will not only elevate performance but also lead to substantial enhancements in areas such as battery life and security, aligning it with the standards set by Apple silicon.
The report further delves into the details of the Surface Laptop 6, revealing an increase in screen size from 13.5 inches to 13.8 inches. The device will sport a rounded display with thinner bezels, mirroring the design of the Surface Pro 10. Additional features may include a touchpad with haptic feedback and a dedicated button for Microsoft Copilot, the tech giant's AI-powered chatbot.
Concerning connectivity, the Surface Laptop 6 is expected to incorporate a USB-A port, two USB-C ports, and a Surface Connect port for charging. As for the Surface Pro 10, it is poised to maintain a pricing structure similar to its predecessor and may be officially unveiled in the spring of 2024. Looking ahead, Microsoft has ambitious plans, with a redesigned Surface Pro and a Surface Laptop Studio scheduled for a grand debut in 2025.
