This feature, announced in February last year, displays real-time estimated time of arrival (ETA) and turn-by-turn directions in the route preview. Users can now check their route overview without needing to press the 'Start' button, making it easier to navigate around their locality.
Whether you're walking, biking, or driving, Google Maps will automatically adjust the route preview if you veer off course. Currently available for Android users, it's uncertain if iOS users have access to this feature yet.
Here's how to enable Glanceable Directions:
1. Open Google Maps and tap on the profile icon at the top right corner.
2. Go to Settings and enable the toggle for 'Glanceable directions while navigating'.
Once activated, users can quickly view directions to their destination without unlocking their device every time they need to check the route. This streamlined feature eliminates the hassle of unlocking the screen repeatedly to view directions, offering a more convenient navigation experience.
