At airports all over the world, including in the United States, a new technology called facial recognition is making big changes in how we go through airport processes, like checking bags and getting on planes.

Imagine this: it's a typical Thursday morning at La Guardia Airport's Terminal C in Queens. Travelers are bustling in, some looking a bit tired, others carrying briefcases. They're doing the usual routine of checking their bags and getting ready to go through security.

But then something catches their eye: there's a line that's almost empty. Curious, they approach and see a kiosk with an iPad attached to it. A security officer is nearby. One by one, they step up to the kiosk and have their photo taken.

Here's the interesting part: within seconds, their photo is matched to one in a government database. And just like that, they're cleared to move past security without needing to show a physical ID or boarding pass.
