Canva, a big design company from Australia, has bought the famous Affinity suite of creative apps. Although the exact money details are not shared, a Bloomberg report suggests the deal is worth “several hundred million British pounds,” making it Canva’s biggest buy yet.

With this smart move, Canva brings the whole team of 90 people from Serif, the company behind the Affinity suite, into its family. The Affinity apps are known for their power on platforms like Windows, Mac, and iPad. Now, they will work hand in hand with Canva’s AI-powered tools as the Australian company grows its online workspace offerings.
The Affinity suite includes three strong apps loved by professionals:
First is Affinity Designer, used by illustrators, designers, and game makers to create digital art, logos, and web designs.
Then, there’s Affinity Photo, which competes with big names in photo editing. It offers everything from basic edits to advanced retouching and complex photo compositions.
Lastly, Affinity Publisher helps make things like books, magazines, and marketing materials with ease.
For Canva, this buy is a big deal in its journey to challenge Adobe, the long-standing giant in creative software. Although Adobe has added AI features to its products recently, its stock dropped after its failed $20 billion purchase of Figma last December.
