Nvidia, a major player in artificial intelligence chips, is starting its annual developer conference on Monday. Investors are eager to hear CEO Jensen Huang's keynote speech, where he's expected to unveil new chips and software.

At the conference, called GTC 2024, Nvidia will reveal its latest chip innovations. These announcements will determine if Nvidia can keep its position as the top seller of AI tools, especially as competitors like Intel and Advanced Micro Devices enter the market.

Last year, Nvidia dominated the AI chip market, with about 80% share. However, in 2024, its market share is predicted to dip due to competition from rivals.

Huang is likely to introduce the next generation of AI processors, including the highly anticipated B100 chip. This new chip is expected to offer significant improvements over its predecessor, the H100.

While Nvidia is known for its chip designs, it also has a strong lineup of software products. Huang is expected to reveal a range of new software offerings during his speech. Earlier this year, Nvidia announced that its software and services business had hit a $1 billion annual run rate.

This year's GTC is the first in-person event for Nvidia since 2019, held in Santa Clara, California. Around 16,000 attendees are expected, double the number of the last in-person event.

Huang's keynote speech will take place at a Silicon Valley hockey arena at 1:00 p.m. (2000 GMT), the largest venue Nvidia has secured for such an event.
