Microsoft's Puneet Chandok Visits Sri Lanka to Enhance Education

Microsoft's India and South Asia President, Puneet Chandok, recently visited Sri Lanka, marking his first official trip to the country since assuming his role. During his visit, Chandok held discussions with President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena. Additionally, Microsoft signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sri Lanka's Ministry of Education to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) into the national school curriculum, starting with grade 8 students.
Chandok expressed his appreciation for Microsoft's longstanding relationship with Sri Lanka and emphasized the company's commitment to prioritizing AI innovation that benefits people. He highlighted the discussions with government officials as an opportunity to explore how Microsoft can collaborate with Sri Lanka to address community challenges. The MoU with the Ministry of Education signifies Microsoft's dedication to advancing Sri Lanka's innovation agenda, particularly in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector.
Chandok commended Sri Lanka's efforts to promote inclusivity in innovation and reiterated Microsoft's commitment to supporting the country's economic and societal transformation through AI technology. He emphasized that AI has the potential to revolutionize various industries and underscored Microsoft's role as a partner in Sri Lanka's journey toward progress.
In addition to governmental meetings, Chandok engaged with business leaders and executives in a session titled "Microsoft CEO Connect." The discussions focused on the transformative impact of AI across different sectors, highlighting its disruptive potential and the opportunities it presents for innovation and growth.
